Israeli International Law Attacks And Violations In Lebanon Are Increasing

JAKARTA - Israel's massive bombings and repeated airstrikes as well as violations of Lebanese airspace by Israel continue to increase. This matter was directly said by a spokesman for the United Nations peacekeeper in Lebanon.

"In recent days, the number of bombings and severe airstrikes, as well as violations of Lebanese airspace have increased," Andrea Tenenti said, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, October 19.

In addition, there was a "significant increase" in bombings, particularly in southern Lebanon, where UNIFIL operates, saying that continuous shootings also continue every day in the capital Beirut and other parts of the country.

Given Israel's statement, calling on UNIFIL's mission to leave their posts, Tenenti said: "We are here deployed because the Security Council wants us here," adding that it was important to stay there and report what happened on the pitch.

The UN resolution 1701, adopted in 2006, called for a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, building a demilitarized zone between the Blue Line or Lebanese-Israeli border with the Litani River, where only Lebanese troops and UNIFIL are authorized to operate there.

Israel has repeatedly made UNIFIL posts in southern Lebanon a target in recent days, sparking global condemnation and concerns over broader military goals.

The attack coincided with Israeli airstrikes on the alleged target of Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Since late September, Israeli attacks in Lebanon have killed more than 1,500 people, injured more than 4,500 others and displaced 1.34 people, according to official reports.

The total death toll from Israeli attacks since October last year has now surpassed 13,000 based on data from Lebanese authorities.
