Rupiah Was Opened Wednesday To Weaken To A Level Of Rp16,325 Per US Dollar
JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate on the spot market was observed to weaken at the opening of trading on Wednesday April 1. The rupiah weakened 15 points or 0.09 percent to a level of Rp16,325 per US dollar.
Head of Research at Monex Investindo Futures, Ariston Tjendra, said the price of risky assets was still under pressure from the increasing spread of the corona virus (COVID-19) in the world.
"The US stock index closed lower overnight due to a significant increase of 14 percent positive corona in New York in one day. Asian stock indexes also moved lower this morning," Ariston told VOI.
According to him, this will give negative sentiment to the rupiah today. However, President Jokowi's announcement regarding the PSBB and stimulus for the lower class of society to reduce the negative impact of the economic downturn due to the corona virus should have given a little positive sentiment to the financial market.
"Today's rupiah has the potential to move in the range of Rp. 16,250-16,400 per US dollar," he explained.
