Getty Images Acquired Unsplash Website, Download Fixed Images Free
JAKARTA - Image and photo service provider Getty Images has officially acquired the image sharing website Unsplash. Even though they were acquired, the images and photos available on Unsplash can still be downloaded for free.
This was revealed by Unsplash CEO Mikael Cho, through his official blog on March 30 yesterday. According to him, this acquisition will accelerate the company's plan to create a visual asset library.
"Working closely with Getty Images, we will accelerate our plans to develop new projects. We will also recruit and add resources to accelerate Unsplash's growth process," wrote Cho.

After the acquisition, Unsplash will still operate as a separate website from Getty Images. So that the curation of images made by Unsplash, including its latest projects, will still be running.
On the other hand, Getty Images CEO Craig Peters saw the great potential that Unsplash had. With this acquisition, Getty Images will benefit in the form of access rights to resources owned by Unsplash.
"We really admire Unsplash. The creativity they have built so far is extraordinary. We are very pleased with the plans that will come in the future," said Peters.
Summarized in diyphotography, Monday, April 5, Unsplash has been known as a photo and image provider platform that is quite popular among photographers. This is because Unsplash provides various types of high quality images.
Moreover, the images and photos contained on Unsplash can be downloaded free of charge or free. Photos and images downloaded from Unsplash can also be used for commercial purposes without paying royalties.
However, it did not say how much money Getty Images had to spend to acquire Unsplash. Since its founding in 2013, Unsplash's stock photos have been downloaded more than three billion times.
