Spain Doesn't Lose Touch Despite A Number Of Pillars Of Euro 2024 Champion Absen

JAKARTA - Spain has confirmed a place in the quarter-finals of the 2024/2025 UEFA Nations League.

Although there are still two matches left, Spain has the worst end to the Group A4 phase as runners-up.

This assurance was obtained after La Roja won 3-0 over Serbia at the Nuevo Arcangel Stadium on October 16, 2024.

The victory made Luis de la Fuente's team ranked first with 10 points from four matches without defeat, three wins and one draw.

They are three points ahead of Denmark who are in second place. Meanwhile, Serbia and Switzerland are on the third and fourth stairs with four points and one point.

Spain's strong performance for its competitors is clearly stunning. In fact, they lost a number of important pillars of the Euro 2024 winning squad.

Just look at the time against Serbia, La Roja was even able to create 30 chances compared to three belonging to guests.

Spain captain Alvaro Morata said his team had not lost touch despite not being strengthened by important players.

In fact, young players who are trusted to come down have immediately clicked.

"We are in the final round of a major tournament and that is something to be proud of."

"It looks easy because we're always in the finals. But, of course not. So, we have to understand how special it is and give him a decent value."

"We have several injured players, we lost them. However, we have to look at the positive side, namely the young players who appear."

"What we have created is a special thing and we have to move forward. Spain has an extraordinary future," Morata told Spanish television TVE.

Since winning Denmark 1-0 on October 13, 2024, Spain has played without Dani Carvajal and Rodri due to serious knee injuries.

Then, key players such as Nico Williams, Dani Olmo, and Robin Le Normand were also absent. However, it turns out that Spain is still tough with a row of young players.

In fact, the absence of a talented young player, Lamine Yamal, also did not really affect La Roja's strength.

Spain still has Pau Cubarsi who is 17 years old. The Barcelona player finally got the opportunity to debut in the senior team.

They easily beat Serbia and did not lose the rhythm of the game. After that match, Spain has now packed three successive UEFA Nations League wins.

Luis de la Fuente's team still have two remaining matches in November 2024, namely traveling to Denmark and hosting Switzerland before appearing in the quarter-finals.

Apart from that, only Spain and Germany have confirmed themselves to the quarter-finals of the League A UEFA Nations League. The remaining two groups still have to fight until the remaining two parties get tickets to the upcoming round.
