10 Years Jokowi Builds 47 Dams In Indonesia: Help Supply Community Raw Water

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the 47th Lausimeme Dam with an investment of IDR 1.76 trillion in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra (North Sumatra), on Wednesday, October 16.

"The Lausimeme Dam is the 47th dam that I have inaugurated for 10 years," Jokowi said in his remarks.

Jokowi emphasized that the Lausimeme Dam, which has been built since 2018, has significant benefits for the community. This dam will reduce flooding in Medan and in Deli Serdang Regency.

"In addition, providing raw water in the two areas so that they can irrigate rice fields around the reservoir," he said.

The dam with an inundation area of 125 hectares has a capacity of 21 million cubic meters. Jokowi hopes that the operation of the Lausimeme Dam, the benefits will be felt by the people of North Sumatra at large. "We hope this will be useful for North Sumatra Province," he added.

The presence of the Lausimeme Dam is part of the government's efforts to build irrigation infrastructure in various regions in Indonesia.

Through this inauguration, the government continues to affirm its commitment to improving the quality of life of the community through sustainable infrastructure development.

Also attending to accompany Jokowi at the inauguration were Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Acting Governor of North Sumatra Agus Fatoni, Acting Regent of Deli Serdang Wiriya Alrahman, Director General of SDA of the Ministry of PUPR Bob Arthur Lombogya, President Director of PT Wijaya Karya Agung Budi Wakito, and Director of Operations of PT PP Yul Ari Pramuraharjo.
