Syauqul-Elim Tyu's Electability Outperforms Bambang-Bayu in Blitar Mayor Election Survey

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Election Study Institute (LKPI) released the results of a survey related to the electability level of the two pairs of candidates for the Election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor (Pilwakot) Blitar, East Java, 2024 which has been determined by the KPU. Namely, the pair Bambang Rianto (Kawit)-Bayu Kuncoro and Syauqul Muhibbin-Elim Tyu Samba.

As a result, the Syauqul-Elim Tyu pair outperformed the Bambang-Bayu pair with an electability rate of above 50 percent.

LKPI Executive Director Togu Lubis explained that at first the survey asked about the level of popularity or recognition of the two Paslons. As a result, the Syauqul Muhibbin-Elim Tyu Samba pair is known at 83.8 percent. Slightly different, the popularity rate of the Bambang Rianto-Bayu Setyo Kuncoro pair is at 81.6 percent.

"This means that eight out of ten residents of Blitar City know them," said Togu in his statement, Wednesday, October 16.

In terms of the level of preference, continued Togu, Syauqul-Elim got a score of 79.6 percent. Meanwhile, Bambang - Bayu is at 52.3 percent.

Then when asked about the choice of Blitar residents if the direct election was held today, 52.2 percent of respondents chose the Syauqul-Elim pair. While 35.4 percent chose Bambang-Bayu, and 12.4 percent did not make a choice.

According to Togu, the advantage of the Syauqul-Elim pair is above 50 percent because it is influenced by the representation of women and the millennial generation, which is an important voter segment in Blitar City.

"In a survey using questionnaires and ballot cards, the Syauqul-Elim pair again won with 58.8 percent of the votes, while Bambang-Bayu won 37.3 percent and 3.9 percent did not vote," explained Togu.

The LKPI survey was held in the period 2-12 October 2024 through face-to-face interviews involving 1,200 Blitar City residents registered in the 2024 Pilkada DPT.

Sampling was carried out through the Random Sampling Multistage Method, including respondents who were spread proportionally in 21 urban villages.

This survey has a margin of error of around 2.81 percent with a confidence level of 95 percent.

As is known, the Bambang-Bayu pair are senior politicians promoted by PDIP, Gerindra, Golkar, and PPP, along with six non-parliamentary parties.

Meanwhile, the Syauqul-Elim pair are new challengers promoted by PKB, PAN, Democrats, and three non-parliamentary parties.
