Cuban President Leads Thousands Of People During Palestinian Defense Action In Havana

JAKARTA - Thousands of people rallied in Havana to support Palestinians and demand an end to Israeli aggression, in an action spearheaded by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

"The creatures of genocide in Gaza and Lebanon; the opponents of Israel's efforts to destroy the noble Palestinian people; the opponents of imperial impunity for the perpetrators of genocide. Cuba conveyed our historic demands, 'Reject the philosophy of colonialism, and the philosophy of war will stop," Diaz-Canel wrote in a post on platform X reported by Antara from Sputnik-OANA, Tuesday, October 15.

In addition to the president, the action which was attended by 10,000 people was also attended by Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero and Parliament Speaker Esteban Lazo, as well as ministers and other high-ranking government officials.

The participants rallied in front of the United States Embassy in Havana, waving the Palestinian flag and chanting Free Palestine,' the Sputnik correspondent reported.

"KUBa and the rest of the world are demanding an end to genocide, which is unlikely without the support of the US government, and this must be recognized and condemned. Without US support, there will never be any impunity to the massacre of people, children, women and the elderly and the destruction of hospitals," the head of the Cuban Friendship Institute with the People, Fernando Gonzalez, told Sputnik.

Gonzalez believes the US is encouraging Israel to "internationalize genocide in the Gaza Strip that has spread to Lebanon and other regions."

Cuba has recognized Palestine since 1988. Earlier this year, Cuba supported UN resolutions that advocate Palestinian recognition as a UN member state.
