There Is A BMKG Warning, DPR Leaders Ask Local Governments To Be Alert To Increased Rainfall

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Azis Syamsuddin, has asked local governments to be more vigilant in the midst of increasing rainfall intensity that has the potential to cause natural disasters. This anticipation follows that BMKG has already given warnings for a number of areas that are potentially affected by heavy rains.

"This must be anticipated immediately by preparing supporting personnel and equipment," Azis told reporters, Monday, April 5.

From a written statement, BMKG mentioned a number of areas that have the potential for heavy rain, namely East Nusa Tenggara (alert), West Sumatra (alert), South Sumatra (alert), Bengkulu (alert), Lampung (alert), Banten (alert).

In addition, DKI Jakarta (alert), West Java (alert), Central Java (alert), East Java (alert), North Kalimantan (alert), East Kalimantan (alert), South Sulawesi (alert), and Central Sulawesi (alert) ).

According to Azis, the flash flood disaster in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, on the early hours of Sunday, April 4, is a reflection of natural disasters coming without knowing the time and place.

From the BNPB report, people affected by flash floods and landslides in East Flores Regency are now seeking refuge at the Nelelamdike Village Hall. The current situation of the refugees is still being collected by officers.

The impact of flash floods and landslides was also felt in 4 Districts, namely Ile Boleng District, East Adonara District, Wotan Ulumado District, and West Adonara District, West Nusa Tenggara.

Meanwhile, 7 affected villages include Nelelamadike Village, Waiwerang Village, Waiburak Village, Oyang Barang Village, Pandai Village, Waiwadan Village and Duwanur Village.

Therefore, Azis encouraged the distribution of logistics for the needs of refugees, including a rapid antigen test kit to anticipate refugees exposed to COVID-19.

There is also the logistics needed, namely ready-to-eat food, side dishes, nutritional added food, 3,000 blankets, gloves, and a quick antigen test and masks.

He also reminded that disaster management carried out by officers still prioritizes health protocols.

"Prokes remain important during a pandemic, despite challenges in the field," said the head of the DPR Coordinator for Political and Security Affairs (Korpolkam).

The Golkar politician hopes that the coordination carried out by BNPB, BPBD in handling the emergency, especially the displaced victims, will run smoothly.

"Hopefully the efforts in handling disaster victims carried out by BNPB, BPBD and volunteers at the site will be facilitated," said Azis.
