Add Two, Official DPR Will Have 13 Commissions

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, confirmed that there were additional board equipment (AKD) in the DPR, from 11 to 13 commissions. The addition of the 2 commissions was carried out to harmonize plans for the addition of the government ministry post Prabowo Subianto.

The agreement for the addition of 2 new commissions was carried out in a leadership meeting (Rapim) and the inaugural consultation meeting (Rakonsul) of the DPR for the period 2024-2029 this afternoon. The meeting was held by the leadership of the DPR together with the leadership of the faction at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, October 14.

"Alhamdulillah, we have just finished carrying out the first rapid and working meeting after the inauguration. This is in accordance with the mechanism, we just finished agreeing together with the 8 factions in the DPR that there were 2 additional commissions in the DPR," said Puan after the meeting.

He said, the agreement to add 2 new commissions of the DPR to harmonize or synergize the performance of legislative institutions with the executive. That way, said Puan, the DPR can carry out the function of legislation, budgeting, and optimal supervision.

"The addition of 2 commissions in the DPR to be able to participate in aligning or synergizing with the upcoming government plans with the addition of ministries as planned by the government so that there is indeed harmony and synergy between the legislature and the executive," he explained.

"(Mitra work) commission I until commission XI is still fixed. Commission XII and XIII will later adjust what kind of ministry will be announced by the upcoming government," explained Puan.

Regarding the AKD leadership, Puan stated that the factions in the DPR had decided with a deliberation mechanism for consensus in accordance with existing regulations.

"In accordance with the proportionality, the number of existing members, who then led the commissions of the 13 existing commissions, the existing AKD," continued the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

Puan said the announcement of the AKD leadership would be made after an agreement on the addition of the commission was decided at the Plenary Meeting which will be held tomorrow, Wednesday (15/10). The proportion regarding the leadership of AKD is said to be delivered after there is an agreement on Commission partners in the DPR.

"Later, after we announce who the partners are, we will announce the leadership," explained Puan.

"Tomorrow there will be a plenary session. It must be sooner or later that every faction leader will announce who will be the leader of each commission," added Bung Karno's grandson.

Puan emphasized that the election for the AKD leadership based on the proportions that have been held in each commission at today's meeting through deliberation and consensus will be conveyed by each faction later.

"So it is the right of each faction to announce. So it is not the leadership of the DPR who will announce it," concluded Puan.
