The Number Of Commissions In The DPR Added 2 To 13 Commissions

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, stated that the DPR agreed on the number of commissions to be added by two to 13 commissions for the DPR for the 2024-2029 term of office.

He said it was agreed in the inaugural Leadership Meeting and Consultation Meeting after the inauguration.

According to him, this was agreed upon by all eight factions in the DPR.

"There is an addition of two commissions in the DPR to be able to participate in aligning or synergizing with the upcoming government plans," said Puan as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 14.

Puan said the upcoming government plans to increase the number of ministries. That way, there needs to be harmony and synergy between the legislature and the executive.

According to Puan, so far the number of commissions will remain at 11 commissions until the government later delivers an official announcement regarding the number and nomenclature of the upcoming ministries.

"Commissions 12 and 13 will adjust what kind of ministry the government will announce," he said.

In addition to agreeing on the number of commissions, the meeting also agreed on the composition of the commissions, starting from the number of members and the names of their leaders.

"Alhamdulillah, in deliberation and consensus we were able to resolve it well, calmly, peacefully, coolly," he said.

According to Puan, the names of the leaders of the commissions and their partners will be announced on Tuesday (15/10) at the Plenary Meeting. Every leader of the political party faction in the DPR will announce the figure of the head of the commission.

"So it is the right of each faction to announce it, so it is not the leadership that will announce it," said Puan.
