MPR Chairman Visits Palace, Invites Jokowi to Attend Prabowo-Gibran Inauguration
JAKARTA - The People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Ahmad Muzani arrived at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta to deliver an invitation to the inauguration of the president and vice president-elect on October 20, 2024 to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
"I want to hand over the invitation and introduce myself," he said when asked about the purpose of his visit to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 14.
Muzani was accompanied by eight deputy chairmen of the MPR RI for 2024-2029, namely Bambang Wuryanto, Kahar Muzakir, Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, Hidayat Nur Wahid, Eddy Soeparno, Abcandra Muhammad Akbar Supratman, Lestari Moerdijat, and Rusdi Kirana.
Ahmad Muzani and his deputy walked towards the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta through the Palace Pillar Gate to visit and deliver the invitation.
Previously, the MPR leadership first visited Prabowo Subianto, who is still serving as Minister of Defense (Menhan) at the office of the Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan).
After handing over the invitation to Jokowi, the MPR leadership will then meet Vice President Kiai Ma'ruf Amin at the Vice President's Office, Jakarta, at around 16.00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
Based on the agenda received by ANTARA, the meeting between the MPR leadership and Gibran will be held at a restaurant in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, at around 18.30 WIB.
The inauguration agenda for the president and vice president-elect is scheduled to take place on October 20, 2024 at the Nusantara Building, DPR/MPR building, Jakarta, on October 20, 2024 at 10.00 a.m. WIB.
Ahmad Muzani said that the inauguration process will use traditions that have been held before. The agenda starts from the opening, reading of the General Election Commission (KPU) Decree, the inauguration procession, reading of the minutes, the new president's speech, and closing.
