Alleged Rp500 Million Tax Corruption In West Aceh Rises Investigation, ASN Persons Allegedly Involved
ACEH - The West Aceh District Attorney (Kejari) has upgraded the status of an investigation into a case of alleged regional tax corruption of around Rp. 500 million within the local district government to the investigation stage.
"The status increase to investigation was carried out after investigators found evidence indicating an element of corruption in this case," said West Aceh District Attorney Siswanto in Meulaboh, Antara, Sunday, October 13.
In addition, he said, in this case, investigators have also examined a number of regional officials within the West Aceh Regency Government, including a number of state civil servants (ASN).
Siswanto said the West Aceh District Attorney's Office was investigating the alleged corruption case of regional taxes that were not deposited into the regional treasury of around Rp. 500 million, which was carried out by ASN personnel who previously served in the Regional Financial Management Agency (BPKD) of West Aceh.
According to him, the tax allegedly not deposited into the regional treasury was allegedly used by the treasurer who at that time was tasked with receiving tax money at the BPKD Office of West Aceh Regency in 2022.
The tax revenue of more than Rp. 500 million is thought to have come from a number of village heads and business actors, such as restaurant, restaurant and other taxes.
According to the rules of every tax levy that has been received by the authorities or treasurer, it must be deposited into the regional treasury or into the state treasury no later than 1x24 hours from receipt.
However, in fact, the money was allegedly used by ASN personnel who were tasked with receiving the regional tax funds for personal gain.
"Tax money is state money, so if he doesn't deposit it, it means he has committed a criminal act of corruption," said Siswanto.
Previously, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) of the Republic of Indonesia Representative of Aceh Province in its release in 2024 found that an individual revenue treasurer at the BPKD of West Aceh Regency allegedly had not deposited a regional tax revenue of Rp470.67 million, which is a tax object received at the end of the 2022 fiscal year.
The tax allegedly not deposited into the regional treasury is thought to have come from the source of local tax revenues, which have been deposited by the tax object.
The West Aceh Regency Government (Pemkab) through the Regional Financial Management Agency (BPKD) received guarantees from a former treasurer within the local government regarding the alleged tax evasion of Rp. 470.6 million which was allegedly not deposited into the regional treasury at the end of 2022.
