Sales Of BMW Group Lesu Global In The Third Quarter Of 2024, Electric Vehicles Grow Fast

JAKARTA The BMW Group reported its global sales in the third quarter of 2024 as many as 540,882 units, or a decrease of 13 percent. Meanwhile, in the sales period from January to September 2024, total sales reached 1,754,158 units, down 4.5 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

Based on BMW Group data released Friday, October 11, the BMW brand became the main contributor with 487,062 units sold in the third quarter (down 11.4 percent) and 1,583,485 units during the first nine months of this year (down 2.3 percent).

The decline in sales was also experienced by Mini, an iconic brand that contributed 52,669 units (down 25.2 percent) in the third quarter, and 166,703 units (down 20.9 percent) during January to September 2024.

The Rolls-Royce ultra-luxury brand recorded sales of 1,151 units in the third quarter (down 16.2 percent) and 3,970 units this year (down 12.8 percent).

However, the BMW M high-performance sub-brand showed a positive trend with sales of 47,057 units in the third quarter (down 3.9 percent), but managed to record a 2 percent increase in the first nine months with a total of 146,574 units, compared to the same period in 2023.

In the electrification vehicle segment, which includes Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV), BMW Group recorded positive growth with sales of 140,065 units in the third quarter of 2024 (up 0.1 percent), and a total of 409,122 units during the first nine months of this year (up 6.2 percent). The BEV segment experienced a significant spike with 103,440 units sold (up 10.1 percent) in the third quarter, and 294,054 units (up 19.1 percent) from January to September 2024.

Regionally, Europe became the largest market for the BMW Group in the third quarter with sales of 219,269 units (down 1 percent), followed by Asia with 205,987 units (down 24.1 percent), and China with sales of 147,691 units (down 29.8 percent).
