Vice President Calls ASEAN-South Korea Partnership Very Dynamic And Strategic
JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said the ASEAN-South Korea partnership was very dynamic and strategic in the last 10 years.
While attending the ASEAN 25th Summit and the Republic of Korea at the National Convention Center (NCC), Vientiane, Laos, the Vice President expressed hope that the partnership could accelerate the energy transition and regional stability.
"The ASEAN-Republic Korea partnership has become one of the most dynamic and strategic in the last ten years. As of 2050, ASEAN will require an investment of 726 million to 1 billion US dollars for renewable energy projects," said the Vice President as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 10.
He hopes that with ASEAN, the Republic of Korea can build innovative partnerships for inclusive funding and the provision of effective technology to achieve the target of using clean and renewable energy.
On that occasion, the Vice President also said that tensions in the Indo-Pacific region must be managed through dialogue and open communication.
"I welcome the Trilateral Summit last May, as an important step towards stability and peace in the region," he said.
The vice president then invited all countries in the region to strengthen joint commitment in forming an open, inclusive and sustainable regional architecture.
Closing his remarks, the Vice President reiterated the support of ASEAN and the Republic of Korea for Palestine.
"We must continue to push for a permanent ceasefire, distribution of humanitarian aid, and full Palestinian membership at the United Nations," he explained.
Meanwhile, President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Seok-Yeol conveyed that the 35-year ASEAN-Korean partnership has been a milestone for partner countries. According to him, this has a positive impact on a number of sectors.
"ASEAN-Korean has witnessed the cooperation of economic, social, natural culture of rapid progress. Since the 1989 relationship was built, trade has tripled and investment has increased rapidly," he said.
He also emphasized that this strategic partnership will continue in the future for the benefit of both parties.
"Korea will continue to be ASEAN's partner and always stick to the best of tomorrow," he said
