Not Just Food, BNPB Also Distributed Rapid Antigen Tests To The Location Of The Flash Flood Disaster In East Flores
JAKARTA - Kapusdatinkom Disaster National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Raditya Jati said that currently his party is delivering a number of aid to locations affected by flash floods in East Flores Regency, NTT.
For basic needs, BNPB handed over 1,002 ready-to-eat food packages, 1,002 nutritional supplements, 1,002 side dishes, 3,000 blankets, 2,000 sarongs.
Then, BNPB also provided personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent COVID-19 transmitters, namely 10 thousand antigen rapid test kits, 1,000 cloth masks, and 1,000 medical masks.
"Health protocol remains important for all of us. During this pandemic, we are still trying to handle the pandemic properly," said Raditya in a BNPB Indonesia YouTube broadcast, Sunday, April 4.
However, Raditya admitted there would be challenges in maintaining health protocols in the field because he was in an emergency. "Therefore, we ask for the support of all parties," he said.
Raditya admitted that there was one obstacle that made it difficult to provide assistance, namely the difficulty of accessing sea crossings to Adonara Island.
This is because rain, wind and high waves mean that shipping is not allowed by the local authorities.
"So, access is only from the sea. Indeed, the challenge is how to get to the location. Another tough challenge is how to evacuate, especially the use of heavy equipment. We hope that there will be other access efforts," he said.
Based on data compiled as of 17.30 WIB, it was recorded that 41 people died, 9 people were injured, 27 people were missing, and 49 families were affected. "This data is very dynamic, we are re-verifying it," he said.
Raditya said, there were 4 sub-districts that were affected and 7 villages in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province that were affected by flash floods.
These areas are Nelelamadike Village in Ile Boleng District, Waiwerang Village and Waiburak Village in East Adonara District, Oyang Barang Village and Pandai Village in Wotan Ulumado District, Waiwadan Village and Duwanur Village in West Adonara District.
"The temporary material losses were recorded that there were dozens of houses buried under mud in Lamanele Village, Ile Boleng District, local residents were swept away by floods, five bridges were broken, and dozens of houses were still flooded in West Adonara District," explained Raditya.
