Israel Claims Maroun Al-Ras Village, South Lebanon

JAKARTA - Israeli Energy Minister explicitly said Israeli soldiers had'resident' the village of Maroun Al-Ras in southern Lebanon. Authorities also shared images of the Israeli flag flying in the village.

The heroic IDF (Israeli Defense Force) fighter occupied Maroun al-Ras today, and destroyed the houses where Hezbollah launched anti-tank missiles to Israelis. We will reach every place where they try to hurt us, and to everyone who tries to hurt us," wrote Eli Cohen on X. reported by CNN, Wednesday, October 9.

On Tuesday, the Israeli military said it was taking control of the Hezbollah combat complex operations in the village.

Previous videos on social media and geolocation by CNN showed Israeli troops waving Israeli flags on the ruins of the Iranian Garden Park on the southern outskirts of Maroun Al-Ras.

The Israeli military insists that its ground attacks in the southern region are constrained.

However, it is unclear whether the troops advanced further into Lebanese territory or withdrew towards Israel.

Satellite imagery shared by Planet Labs on October 5 showed Israeli military vehicles behind embankments surrounding a base belonging to the UN Temporary Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

UN Secretary-General Ant Totalio Guterres said Israeli tanks and other armed elements had left the area.

On Tuesday, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters social media footage showing Israeli soldiers in Maroun Al-Ras "clearly inappropriate".

"We will ask them to comply with what they say, that this is a limited attack. Not with the aim of controlling territory," he said.
