Sydney Becomes The Best And Most Friendly City For Tourists In The World

JAKARTA - Sydney is the capital of the states of New South Wales, Australia and Sydney to be the best and most friendly city for tourists in the world.

Reporting from the New York Post page, Sydney was chosen to be the best tourist city in the world and the magazine's most friendly city runners-up in New York, Condé Nast Traveler through the 2024 Readers' Choice Awards. This confirmed Sydney's position as one of the main tourist destinations globally.

The Readers' Choice Awards itself was attended by more than 125,000 readers across the UK voting for the prestigious award. Sydney is at the top with a score of 92.96 for a unique indoor and outdoor lifestyle.

Apart from Sydney, the Spanish city of Valencia is in second place with a score of 92.78, followed by Singapore (92.47), Hong Kong (91.72), and Stockholm in Sweden (91.11).

"If you've had a glimpse of life in Australia, you may have fallen in love with the unique indoor andoudoor lifestyle that Australians hold very well," Traveller said of Sydney.

Sydney has been named the second most friendly city in the world to visit with a score of 93.85. Singapore took first place with a score of 94.84. Meanwhile, Las Vegas, Nevada took third place.

The Totalton, located in CBD, is at the top of the list as Sydney's most popular hotel. Park Hyatt Sydney is in second place, while the Halcyon House in Cabarita Beach is in third place and The Calile Hotel in Brisbane is in fourth place.

However, as a continent, Australia won in several other categories with the Southern Ocean Lodge in Kangaroo Island which is ranked 29th on the list of Best Hotels in the World, and the only Australian hotel to make the top 50.

But unfortunately, the hotel caught fire in a summer forest fire in 2020 and was rebuilt in 2023. L'Horizon Resort & Spa in Palm Springs, California won the highest award in the category.

The US Conde Nast Traveler also launched this week's Reader Choice Award, with Sydney taking third place on the list of the best cities in the world, describing it as an 'ideal holiday in any season'.

Meanwhile, in September, Sydney was named the Leading City Destination at Oceania at the 2024 World Travel Awards.

Although Sydney continues to win several prestigious awards, according to data from the latest International Visitors Survey from Tourism Research Australia, the city welcomed 3,446,000 foreign visitors in June, still below 16 percent of the 2019 period.

John O'Sullivan, chief executive of Experience Co and former managing director of Tourism Australia, told the Sydney Morning Herald the results of this extraordinary award could be of great help in placing Sydney on high-value international travelers radars.

"Those who tend to spend more money, stay longer, and travel further in Australia." said John O'Sullivan.
