Indonesia Was Attacked By Successive Terror, Former TNI Kabais Did Not Accept Being Called An Intel.
JAKARTA - There were terrorist attacks in two locations in the last few days. The attacks took place at the Makassar Cathedral Church, South Sulawesi and the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta.
Many parties have questioned the readiness of state intelligence because it seemed that they had not detected the existence of this terror attack. However, the former head of the TNI's Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais) Soleman Ponto denied this.
According to Soleman, the agency most responsible for terrorist attacks in recent days is the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), not intelligence.
"If we talk about the eradication and countermeasures of terrorists, the only body that is most responsible for Java in Indonesia is the BNPT. So, if there are still terrorists roaming around, ask him. Not asking for intelligence," Soleman said in a virtual discussion, Sunday, April 4. .
According to Soleman, acts of terror are clearly a failure of BNPT's performance. This is because the countermeasures for terrorism are on the "shoulders" of the BNPT. According to him, intelligence work only looks for information related to the movement of terrorism networks, while the prosecution is left to the BNPT.
"Another problem is that if there is no BNPT, then we can ask who the intelligence is responsible for, let's ask BNPT what they have done so that these terrorists are still haunted, so it is not intelligence that has been compromised, because since BNPT was born all responsibility lies with the BNPT," he explained.
Previously, the Chairman of the Indonesian Police Watch (IPW) Presidium Neta S Pane said this act of terror was a major blow to the new National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. This is because when the former aide to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was fond of consolidating with the external police, his headquarters was attacked.
He considered that there should still be an official responsible for the breach of security at the Police Headquarters. Do not let the escape of the terrorists be considered a normal thing because this could make the public experience a crisis of trust with the police.
"The public will ask, how can the police guard and protect the public from terrorist attacks by not being able to protect their headquarters," he said.
"That is why the National Police needs to consolidate itself and take action against careless officials so that public trust in the National Police will continue to be built," added Neta.
