MediaTek Launches Dimensity 9400 With Gemini Nano Support

JAKARTA - MediaTek, a Taiwanese semiconductor company, is working with Google in designing Dimensity 9400. The company explains that this latest chipset is optimized for Gemini Nano.

By adopting the big language model (LLM), MediaTek wants to help manufacturers deliver their best performance on devices. MediaTek also wants to bring the best generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem on its chipset.

" Gemini Nano's rapid adoption reflects MediaTek's ongoing support for Google's LLM, which is optimized for on-device tasks, and underscores the company's commitment to expanding the Generative AI ecosystem," explains MediaTek.

Thanks to Gemini Nano's support, Dimensity 9400 can run complex AIs on devices. Through this collaboration, MediaTek and Google believe that they can bring the best AI experience into the Android device ecosystem.

"The MediaTek Partnership with Google highlights a common vision to provide a Generative AI experience across the Android ecosystem," said MediaTek. "By activating the multimodal model, users will be able to take pictures and receive detailed descriptions."

Dimensity 9000 was just released on Wednesday, October 9. This chipset is built on a 3nm fabrication processor with an enhanced core from the previous generation. The chipset consists of 1 Cortex-X925 core, 3 Cortex-X4 cores, and 4 Cortex-A720 cores.

MediaTek claims that Dimensity 9400 is 40 percent more power efficient compared to version 9300. This chipset is also equipped with 8th Immortalis-G925 GPU and NPU iteration which is claimed to deliver peak performance up to 41 faster.

This 8th generation NPU is also able to handle the growing AI processing. When combined with Gemini Nano, MediaTek believes that they can make LLM work faster and can present various advanced features on devices.
