After The Prabowo-Gibran Inauguration, Jokowi Holds Sambut Separate At The Palace

JAKARTA - Minister of State Secretary Pratikno ensured that President Joko Widodo would attend the inauguration agenda of the 2024-2029 president and vice president at the MPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, on October 20, 2024.

"God willing, it will come, so the President did from the start and said he would come at the inauguration, so of course, so for sure, the President will be present at the inauguration on October 20," said Minister of State Secretary Pratikno as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 8.

Pratikno said President Jokowi's presence at the inauguration of the elected presidents was not mandatory protocol.

"There are no rules, but so far the president has been present," he said.

Pratikno recalled the moment of his inauguration in 2014, when President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vice President Boediono were present, followed by President-elect Jokowi and Vice President-elect Jusuf Kalla.

He said the tradition of the presence of the president and vice president was previously an important part of the event.

After attending the inauguration of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as president and vice president, Jokowi will first go to the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, to attend a series of activities, in the form of welcoming each other.

"Because the President will welcome the event later, so Mr. President after the inauguration. The plan is that the 7th President will first go to the Presidential Palace, then President Prabowo will follow the welcoming event," he said.

The Minister of State Secretary said President Jokowi had signed a number of invitation letters for state guests on the agenda of welcoming the head of state which is scheduled to take place at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on October 20, 2024.

However, he explained that the event arrangement process was still ongoing and was waiting for confirmation from the invited guests.

"It will be certain that Pak Prabowo will arrange a meeting with the state guests who attend. But, once again, it is still in the arrangement process of Pak Prabowo's team together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of State Affairs," he said.
