Police Arrest Jumping Squirrel After Stealing A Toy In A Box Car, Claiming To Have Taken Action 4 Times

JAKARTA - The Tambora Metro Police, West Jakarta, has arrested a jumping squirrel or a thief targeting a passing vehicle on Jalan Perniagang Barat, Roa Malaka Village, West Jakarta.

"The perpetrator carried out the action with other colleagues who were still in pursuit. It is known that the perpetrator has carried out the action four times," said Tambora Police Chief, Kompol Faruk Rozi in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, April 3.

The perpetrator with the initials AR alias RN carried out the action on Friday, April 2 at around 10.30 WIB. Unemployed, 21 years old from Sukadana Village, Lampung, stole items containing children's toys in a box car driven by Rian Gunawan.

Rian then felt the shock of the car that was being driven, then stopped the vehicle. When he stopped, he asked his colleague, Fredi, to check.

The two of them were shocked because the box that was previously locked had been released and saw the perpetrator carrying away boxes containing toys. Immediately, they shouted at the thief and heard a number of residents around the location.

Knowing that he was shouted at by thieves, then the other perpetrators left the stolen items not far from the scene.

After a while, members of the Tambora Police Criminal Investigation Unit, namely AKP Suparmin and IPTU I Gusti Ngurah Astawa who were on patrol then chased the perpetrators and arrested RN.

From RN's statement, the perpetrator carried out the action with the escaped WO and is now on the police search list (DPO).

"The person concerned also admitted that he had committed the theft for about a month in the Morning Market area with the modus operandi of prying the lock on the boxcar door until it was damaged and then lowering the contents of the cargo," he said.

The perpetrator also admitted to having stolen four times and all the stolen goods were sold to his partner with the initials LN, who is currently assigned by DPO.
