Banjir Bima, Governor Zulkieflimansyah: Do What We Can Help, Don't Blame One Another

JAKARTA - The Governor of West Nusa Tenggara, H Zulkieflimansyah, has visited the location of the flood that hit a number of areas in Bima Regency.

When inspecting the flood locations, the Governor of NTB was accompanied by the Regent of Bima, Hj Indah Damayanti Putri. The two of them went directly to various flood disaster locations as well as handing over aid.

"Do what we can and do not blame each other," said Governor Zulkieflimansyah as quoted by Antara, Saturday, April 3.

The governor said that the current condition in Bima Regency had gradually recovered due to the receding floods.

It is known that flooding in Bima Regency occurred since Thursday, April 1 due to rainfall that was almost evenly distributed with moderate to heavy intensity. Based on data from Tagana, Bima Regency, floods occurred in four sub-districts, namely Madapangga District, covering six villages including Campa Village with 253 families or 771 people affected. Woro Village 302 families or 906 people, Tonda village 451 families or 1,353 people. Then, Dena Village has 296 families or 981 people, Ncandi Village has 112 families or 318 people and Rade Village has 258 families or 1,032 people.

In Bolo District, there are eight affected villages, namely Tambe Village 285 families or 895 people, Rasa Bou Village 193 families or 587 people. Leu Village 176 families or 536 people, Bonto Kape Village 97 families or 301 people, Nggembe Village 221 families or 613 people, Kananga Village 305 families or 927 people, Rato Village 248 families or 753 people and Timu Village 237 families or 691 people.

In order to prepare anticipatory and mitigating measures, BPBD Bima Regency has conducted an assessment and coordinated with the affected sub-districts and villages and prepared logistical assistance to be given to flood-affected residents.

Not only that, the NTB Provincial BPBD has also coordinated with the Bima District BPBD to provide further logistical assistance to flood-affected residents such as blankets, tarpaulins, clothing packages, side dishes packages, ready-to-eat food packages, additional nutritional packages, baby equipment packages, packages family supplies, instant noodles and drinking water.

Besides Bima Regency, floods also occurred in Dompu Regency which occurred on Friday (2/4). The flood is thought to have been caused by the high intensity of rain that occurred at 12.30 WITA and the overflow of river water in the Cempi Jaya Village area, Hu'u District, which resulted in flooding and submerging of residential areas and agricultural land.

Total affected residents are 50 families (200 people) and approximately 70 ha of agricultural land are inundated by waterlogging. Further logistical assistance to residents affected by the floods has also been distributed, including baby supplies and family supplies and blankets.

The public is advised to remain vigilant against disasters that can occur suddenly, entering the end of the rainy season accompanied by a period of the La Nina phenomenon that is still happening.
