PDIP Legislator Questions Raffi Ahmad Using TNI Rank Major Attributes: Are UN Missions On?

JAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives from the PDIP faction TB Hasanuddin questioned the famous artist Raffi Ahmad who wore the TNI uniform and attributes.

Raffi is known to be wearing a TNI peace mission uniform with the rank of major who was a middle-ranking TNI officer when he was MC at the commemoration of the TNI's 79th Anniversary which was held in the Monas area, Central Jakarta, on Saturday, October 5, last weekend.

"The series used are the bare UN troops (United Nation Mission). I question whether Raffi Ahmad is currently training the United Nations peace mission (UNBB) troops or is currently on duty as a TNI soldier for the UN peace mission," said TB Hasanuddin, Tuesday, October 8.

At the event, Raffi appeared to be wearing a national uniform for the TNI's typical desert peace mission with a blue beret.

In several photos he posted, Raffi was seen wearing the Garuda TNI uniform at the United Nations with the rank of major. Even in one of the photos, Raffi seemed to point to the image of the jasmine rank that was on his collar.

TB Hasanuddin, who is familiarly called Kang TB, reminded that TNI uniforms or attributes should not be worn by just anyone. As for the use of the TNI uniform official clothes, it is regulated in the Skep of the TNI Commander No Skep/X/2004 dated October 5, 2004 concerning Guidelines for the Use of TNI Uniforms.

Then, said Kang TB, the use of TNI clothes or uniforms was further regulated in the Telegram Letter of the TNI Commander No ST/29/2005 dated February 16, 2005 TUM TNI and TNI uniforms.

"The rule explicitly states that those who have the right to wear TNI service uniforms are active soldiers," said the general retired 2-star TNI Army.

Not only that, continued Kang TB, the prohibition of civilians from wearing uniforms is also regulated in Article 378 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) which reads:

'Whoever with the intention of benefiting himself or others against the law, by using a false name or fake dignity, by trickery, or a series of lies, mobilizing others to hand over something to him, or in order to pay debts or write off receivables, is threatened with fraud with imprisonment'.

Therefore, Kang TB, who previously served in Commission I in the defense sector, hopes that the TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto will explain to the public about Raffi wearing the TNI uniform for international missions. Moreover, Raffi's wearing of the TNI uniform has drawn controversy in the community.

"I am worried that if the TNI Commander does not provide an explanation to the public, he will tarnish the image of the TNI which has just celebrated the 79th Anniversary of the TNI," concluded the legislator from the West Java IX electoral district.
