Become An Submarine In Bali, German Tourists Deported

DENPASAR - Singaraja Immigration Office, Bali, deported a foreign tourist from Germany with the initials FM for working as a diving instructor in the Turamben tourist area, Karangasem Regency.

"He (FM) was deported after the team traced the findings in the field," said Singaraja Immigration Office Head Hendra Setiawan, Monday, October 7.

The 59-year-old was arrested in the marine tourism area on Friday (20/9) when the Singaraja Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Officer (Inteldakim) conducted surveillance in the field.

At that time, FM was caught escorting a number of foreign tourists to one of the dive locations that were already wearing diving clothes on a pickup truck.

The team found evidence that FM worked as a diving instructor at one of the diving equipment rental sites.

Immigration officers then took the man to the Singaraja Immigration Office for further investigation.

The Singaraja Immigration Office in North Bali includes three working areas, namely Buleleng Regency, Jembrana Regency and Karangasem Regency.

From the results of the examination, FM set foot in Indonesia through Bali on July 26, 2024 using a tourist visa (visa on arrival/VoA).

The VoA was then extended in validity period until September 23, 2024.

VoA also cannot be used for work needs because it requires a different type of visa, namely a visa to work for.

Hendra added that from FM's confession, this was the first time he worked as a diving instructor while on the Island of the Gods.

The officers then imposed sanctions in the form of deportations that could not be carried out immediately at that time because they were waiting for readiness, including administration and need to return to their country.

Hendra explained that FM was not detected in the immigration detention room while waiting for deportation time because considering age and immigration officials had confiscated his travel documents to avoid FM running away.

FM was then deported through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Badung Regency, Bali, escorted by Immigration officers to Bali Airport to be deported to his country via Bangkok with the final destination of Frankfurt, Germany.

Meanwhile, based on data from the Bali Kemenkumham Regional Office, from January to September 2024, the Immigration Office in Bali has deported 412 foreign nationals (WNA).

This number has increased significantly compared to 2023 as many as 335 foreigners were deported by the Immigration Office in Bali, namely the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Denpasar Immigration, Singaraja Immigration, and Denpasar Immigration Detention Center.

There were also the most deported foreigners, namely from Taiwan, reaching 90 people who were previously caught simultaneously in a foreign surveillance operation.
