North Korea Promotes Coastal Tourism Through Berbikini Tourist Ads

JAKARTA - North Korea has again become a public conversation. This is because there are advertisements that are promoting North Korean tourism. However, many netizens sneer because advertisements show tourists wearing bikinis while playing on the beach sand.

Tourism ads are widely discussed on the Reddit platform. Tourists look engrossed in playing to the point of walking along the shoreline. A group of tourists from Russia is seen enjoying their vacation on the beach.

Reporting from the New York Post page, the advertisement is on Majeon Beach, South Hamgyong Province, North Korea. The ad depicts a young woman from Russia playing on the beach sand. He was also involved in beachfront volleyball.

There is also a video showing a happy and medium couple. In addition, there are also tourists who ride jet skis quickly. A Russian woman was also seen shadowboxing on an ad, with a magnificent mountain in the background.

Ironically, this advertisement features women in bikinis, even though swimsuits are prohibited in this authoritarian country.

Russia and North Korea have strengthened their alliance in recent years. During a visit to North Korea in June, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a reciprocal aid agreement with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un if one of the countries was attacked.

For the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, North Korea reopened its borders to tourism in January.

Although North Korea is known to be so "hard" on its citizens, they promised not to do that to tourists visiting North Korea.

Since the opening of the tourism route in February 2024, around 100 Russian tourists have entered North Korea to make a 4-day ski trip at a destination called the Masikryong Ski Resort, near Wonsan, which first opened in 2014.

Resort ski is known to have been promoted by Jong Un, who was photographed with a smoking style while in one of the ski lifts. Meanwhile, the US State Department issued a travel warning in July, urging Americans not to visit Russia and North Korea.
