The Palace Regarding Rizieq Shihab Sues Jokowi 5,246 Trillion: Citizens' Rights, But Don't Look For Sensation

JAKARTA - President Dini Purwono's Special Staff (Stafsus) responded to Rizieq Shihab's civil lawsuit against President Joko Widodo through the Central Jakarta District Court, one of which was related to compensation to the state worth Rp5,246 trillion.

"Of course it is the right for every citizen to file a legal action, but it is better for every legal effort to be taken seriously and responsibly," said Dini in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 7.

He conveyed that everyone who argued something must prove it. The principle of law, he said, must always be put forward.

"Don't use legal remedies provided by the constitution arbitrarily just to look for sensations or purpose of provocation," said Dini.

Dini said that during the 10 years of President Jokowi's administration, it could not be separated from the advantages and weaknesses.

However, according to him, let the public ultimately assess President Jokowi's performance and dedication to society, nation and state.

"The Palace cannot provide further responses because the lawsuit was filed with the District Court. We may see how it develops so that it is clearer, whether this lawsuit is addressed to Pak Jokowi as President or as a person," said Dini.

Previously, Rizieq Shihab and a number of parties sued Jokowi with case number 611/Pdt.G/2024/PN Jkt.Pst. In his petitum Rizieq asked for the lawsuit to be accepted and granted completely, stated that the Defendant violated the law, and asked for compensation of state losses worth Rp5,246 trillion to be deposited into the state treasury.
