Conquering Karolina Muchova, Coco Gauff Wins Chinese Tennis Open

JAKARTA - Cori Dionne Gauff or popular with the name Coco Gauff, beat Karolina Muchova with a straight two-set win in the final match, to bring him to win the China Open on Sunday.

The 20-year-old United States player recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win in a one-hour 16-minute match in Beijing.

This is Gauff's third win of three games against Muchova. Czech tennis player Muchova had an wrist injury that threatened his career, and forced him out of play for 10 months before returning to compete this summer.

It feels good to see you back on the pitch. You are a great player, and hopefully we will be playing more final matches," said Gauff about Muchova as quoted by AFP.

"It feels great to see how you prepare the competition season after so many injuries," added Gauff.

Gauff started the match quickly. He broke the serve against him to lead 2-0 in the first set, and then always successfully won game points from his own serve without losing points.

He had taken a 3-0 lead when the game had only lasted about 10 minutes.

Gauff then had three break points in the sixth game, and converted it to a 5-1 lead over Muchova. With his third ace shot of the game, Gauff has two sets of points.

Muchova defeated top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the quarter-finals and then beat Olympic gold medal winner Zheng Qinwen.

Muchova's game had improved at the start of the second set to take a 2-0 lead, but gauff then showed off again to take the lead and close the game with an absolute advantage.
