Tri Adhianto Responds To The Rejection Of The Bekasi Angkot Driver About Our Bis

JAKARTA - Deputy Mayor of Bekasi and Acting Mayor of Bekasi 2019-2024 Tri Adhianto responded to the rejection of the Bekasi urban transportation driver for the operation of Bis Kita from March until now, which still provides free services to passengers.

"I understand very well the concerns of angkot drivers regarding the impact they feel. We all want to find the best solution for all parties. I am sure, angkots and BisKita or Transpatriots can walk side by side as part of an integrated transportation system," he said, in Bekasi City, quoted from Antara, Saturday 5 October.

The angkot drivers of Bekasi City held a demonstration at the Bekasi City DPRD on Wednesday (2/10), when the DPRD held a plenary meeting to determine the chairman of the DPRD.

They demand justice for subsidies in public transportation services in connection with the operation of our Bis which has provided free services to passengers since last March. This condition makes passengers prefer our Bis over public transportation so that it has a huge impact on the income of angkot drivers.

He acknowledged that the concern of angkot drivers is something that needs serious attention and the existence of our Bis or Transpatriot as an effort to bring integrated public transportation that is more comfortable, efficient, and affordable.

He stated that the plan to rejuvenate angkots and provide skills training for angkot drivers who allow adaptation by changing or diverting them to the modern transportation sector with more stable income.

"We are not only focused on building a modern transportation system, but also ensure that angkot drivers are not abandoned. We want them to be involved in this change, through a program to rejuvenate public transport, training, incentives and subsidies that can help during the transition period," he said.

Tri also emphasized the important meaning of open dialogue between angkot drivers, the government and the community. This collaboration is the key to achieving solutions that benefit all parties without ignoring anyone's interests.

"Look for an inclusive solution. I believe we can realize the public transportation of Bekasi City which is more comfortable and prosperous for all citizens," he said.

Since the launch of Bis Kita, the people of Bekasi City have welcomed the presence of this mode of transportation. Moreover, the presence of LRT and MRT development are getting closer to residents to get more comfortable, safe, cheap and timely integrated transportation solutions.

However, on the other hand, angkot drivers feel that the presence of buses significantly reduces the number of their passengers.

Tri Adhianto, who is running for Mayor of Bekasi, confirmed his commitment to creating a better transportation system, as well as paying attention to the welfare of angkot drivers who have long been part of the city's transportation dynamics.
