Bayung Lencir-Tempino Toll Road Section 1 Completed, Jambi To Palembang Only 15 Minutes

JAKARTA - PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk revealed that the Bayung Lencir-Tempino Section 1 Toll Road in Jambi Province has been completed.

With the completion of the toll road, Jambi's distance to Palembang is only 15 minutes faster.

Waskita Karya Corporate Secretary Ermy Puspa Yunita said the Bayung Lencir-Tempino Section 1 Toll Road was the first toll road to connect the Jambi area to Palembang, to Lampung.

Ermy said the project would later increase the length of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS), as well as start the continuation of the JTTS Phase II construction.

"With this toll road, the distance of 65 kilometers (km) from Bayung Lencir to Jambi, which was originally two hours, can now be reached in just 15 to 30 minutes. The faster travel time is believed to improve the economy of the Bayung Lencir sub-district," he said in an official statement, Friday, October 4.

Ermy said the National Strategic Project (PSN) worth IDR 640 billion for Waskita's portion was carried out through Integrated Operational Cooperation (KSO) with Adhi Karya and Jaya Konstruksi. Meanwhile, the total length reaches 7.6 kilometers (km) with toll access is 2.9 km.

He added that the Bayung Lencir-Tempino toll road has a multiplier effect, such as facilitating the flow of goods and services, thereby accelerating the rotation of the economy in Jambi. Then, the mobility of Bayung Lencir residents to Jambi and from Jambi to Bayung Lencir is getting higher.

"With this economic even distribution, it is hoped that it can have a major impact on the tourism sector and employment opportunities. Moreover, Jambi-Palembang transportation is shorter than the previous seven to eight hours to only four to five hours," he explained.

During the construction process of the Bayung Lencir-Tempino Toll Road Section 1, continued Ermy, the Waskita Karya team implemented innovations in the form of improvising the method of using the Selected Borrow Material (Capping Layer).

This method is able to provide a better added value in the work.

"This innovation implementation is expected to encourage increased efficiency of operational costs and material procurement in the context of implementation, as well as quality according to predetermined specifications," he explained.

For information, in the last 10 years, the company has completed the construction of 118 buildings, 47 toll roads, 20 national roads, 16 bridges, 12 dams, and 24 other infrastructures. Then as many as 83 of them are National Strategic Projects (PSN).
