Extreme Weather, Heavy Rain And Strong Winds, Dozens Of Trees Fall In Makassar
MAKASSAR - The Environmental Agency (DLH) of Makassar City, South Sulawesi handled dozens of fallen trees due to heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.
Head of Makassar City Environment Agency Iman Hud said dozens of trees had fallen because of the extreme weather.
"We are quite overwhelmed by the limited amount of energy, but we are determined to finish all the fallen trees so as not to interfere with residents' access, let alone those who are hit, either cars or houses", he said as quoted by Antara Friday, April 2.
Iman said that since the tree fell, it happened Friday dawn. 10 locations were immediately cleaned.
Some of them are trees from the Dutch colonial era which are located in front of the office of the Governor of South Sulawesi, Sungai Tangka Street, then on Rajawali Street in front of the house of the Head of the RRI Makassar Station. There are also fallen trees in Macan Park, Raya Pendidikan Street, Hedgehog Baru Street, and Dangko Street.
"There are more than 40 points where the tree fell and there is one location, more than one point of the tree fell. But we are trying our best to handle all of that", he said.
According to him, handling a fallen tree cannot be done all at once because of limited human resources and equipment.
"Indeed, we admit that this handling is not as fast as the community hopes, at least we are working optimally to the best of our ability. At the same time, there is also a fallen tree handling post, it is gradually to be completed", he explained.
