YOGYAKARTA - The house of office facilities for members (RJA) will no longer be given to members of the DPR RI for the period 2024-2029. Instead, members of the council will receive housing allowances every month. So what is the housing allowance program for members of the DPR RI that is enforced?
The policy of providing this allowance has been stipulated in the Secretariat General of the DPR with number B/733/RT.01/09/2024 dated September 25, 2024. The allotment of housing allowances will be distributed starting from the time the members of the DPR are sworn in.
"Members of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the period 2024-2029 will be given housing allowances and not be given a Membership House (RJA) facility," wrote the letter.
Then how much is the housing allowance for members of the DPR RI as a substitute for housing facilities?
The Secretary General of the DPR RI, Indra Iskandar, conveyed the reason why members of the DPR RI are no longer rationed for housing facilities. Indra said the policy was implemented because the consideration of RJA's old and non-economic condition. He also said that maintenance costs were increasingly unbalanced.
Furthermore, Indra said that the allowance will be used more flexibly by the recipient. The housing allowance money given to members of the DPR will be included in the salary component given every month. So the members of the council can freely use the allowance.
Meanwhile, the RJA facilities for members of the DPR RI which are currently being used will soon be returned to the state. The Secretariat General of the DPR will coordinate with the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) and the Ministry of State Secretariat (Setneg)
Indra explained that the RJA facility for the 2019-2024 period had been withdrawn starting last September 30. The residential facility assets were registered at the Ministry of Finance and the State Secretariat. He revealed that currently there are 570 units of office houses spread across two locations, namely the Kalibata and Pesanggrahan areas, South Jakarta.
The letter from the Secretary General of the DPR stated that the provision of housing allowances has been distributed since the members of the council were inaugurated. The members of the previous period of council who were still living in the office were asked to immediately hand over the RJA.
"Please, for the members of the DPR RI for the 2019-2024 period, both those who are re-elected and those who are not re-elected are willing to submit the House of Offices of Members of the DPR RI no later than September 30, 2024 to the Office Management Unit with a list of inventory items for office houses," the letter read.
Many have asked about the amount of housing allowances for members of the DPR RI. However, so far the amount or nominal regarding the allowance has not been decided. In addition, this program has not been implemented since October 2024 because it still has to go through adjustments to the cost of renting houses in the Senayan, Semanggi, and Kebayoran Baru areas.
