Sir Alex Ferguson Recommends Massimiliano Allegri Replace Erik Ten Hag

JAKARTA - Sir Alex Ferguson came to the surface amid Manchester United's critical performance.

The former Red Devils manager recommended the name Masssimilano Allegri to replace Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag is currently being criticized. He was defending his position desperately ahead of Porto's opponents in the second match of the Europa League 2024/2025.

The 54-year-old manager is under closer scrutiny following a 0-3 loss at home to Tottenham on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

The leader of Ineos as the owner of Manchester United's minority stake has so far chosen to keep the Dutch coach.

However, they gave two chances in the match against Porto and Aston Villa to determine the fate of Ten Hag.

It is also reported that Manchester United officials have been looking for a replacement candidate.

The news is busy in Italy. A number of Italian media reports immediately identified that Manchester United's target was former Juventus manager, Massimiliano Allegri.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Massimiliano Allegri emerged as the main candidate to get the role if Ten Hag was sacked.

They claim that the 57-year-old Italian has even been recommended by Ferguson, outperforming other candidates like Thomas Tuchel.

Allegri has been unemployed since being sacked just two days after winning the Coppa Italia with Juventus in May 2024.

He was reportedly involved in a fierce argument with Juventus officials, reporters, and Sports Director Cristiano Giuntoli, after a 1-0 win over Atalanta.

Allegri coached AC Milan between 2010-2014. He won Serie A in the 2010-11 season.

He then coached Juventus between 2014-2019, before returning to Turin in 2021 for the next three years.

The Italian coach won five Serie A titles with Juventus and five Coppa Italia.

He also reached two Champions League finals during his first tenure as coach.

Gazzetta's report also claims that Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi may be included in Manchester United's plans.

Inzaghi has coached Inter since 2021 and won the Serie A title last season to add two Coppa Italia wins.

He also won the Coppa Italia during his previous tenure with Lazio.

Erik Ten Hag Not Worried

Even though the chair was hot, Erik ten Hag admitted that he was not worried about his future at Old Trafford.

"I didn't think about it, I'm not worried. We created togetherness in the summer with owners and leaders."

"We made this deal. We all support it. We know the strategy (is to bring in) young players in the transition period."

"They also know that in May in the last six seasons I've always had trophies and that's what we're going for," Ten Hag told Sky Sports ahead of the Europa League match against Porto.
