Radnicki's 2 Penalties And Red Card, Serbian Referee Obradovic Sentenced To 15 Months In Prison And 10 Years Of Suspension
JAKARTA - Referee Srdjan Obradovic was sentenced to 15 months in prison on Thursday, plus a ten-year suspension from his profession for abuse of power.
Obradovic was proven to side with Spartak Subotica in the Serbian SuperLiga match against Radnicki Nis in 2018.
The sentence also stipulates that Obradovic will be barred from holding any position in the Serbian Football Federation for the next ten years.
The verdict, which could be appealed, was handed down by the Novi Sad High Court's Anti-Corruption Chamber, the Serbian news agency Tanjug reported via MARCA.
Spartak and Radnicki face off in the penultimate round of the league on 13 May 2018 in Subotica, and the winners will take third place and qualify for the Europa League the following season.
The home side scored two penalties, one of which was described as "embarrassing" by the local press, and won 2-0. The visitors even had to end the match with 10 players after their striker was sent off.
Police officers questioned the referee after the match because his decision raised suspicions about possible match-fixing and his testimony was used by the prosecution.
