PHR Gets An Additional 2,000 Barrels Of Oil From The Rokan Block Torch Field

JAKARTA Pertamina Hulu Rokan has succeeded in increasing production of 2,000 barrels of crude oil per day from the old Obor field, Bonai Darussalam District, Rokan Hulu Regency. The oil reserves that have been trapped among the main reservoirs (attic oil) were tracked down through 3D seismic sensing.

After the transfer of management of the Rokan Working Area (WK) to PHR in August 2021, the field development team re-evaluated fields classified as small-fields, where the Torch Field is one of the priorities.

"PHR officers from the Asset Development section have begun to carry out the latest three-dimensional seismic sensing (3D) technique in old fields, which so far have not been a priority. This method has succeeded in seeing potential reserves that have not been detected so far," said PHR's UPstream Business EVP Andre Wijanarko, Tuesday, October 1.

Based on this potential, an additional drilling of 5 wells was carried out at the Torch Field in the SLO OPLL Stage-4 development package. The first well (Obor #4) of this development package has been completed and production starts on September 28, 2024 with an flow rate of 2,144 barrels of oil per day. The execution of drilling of the remaining 4 production wells will be carried out in 2025.

"We appreciate PHR's efforts to support national energy security, including through optimizing production from existing wells," said Head of SKK Migas Representative for the Sumbagut Region, Rikky Rahmat Firdaus.

Rikky added that this effort ensures that the Rokan WK can continue to support the achievement of the 1 million BOPD oil and gas production target and 12 BSCFD in 2030.
