3 Residents Including Syrian TV Presenter Killed In Israeli Attack In Damascus
JAKARTA - Safaa Ahmed, a well-known Syrian television host, was killed along with two other people in an Israeli attack last night in Damascus, Syrian news agency SANA reported.
"The Public Authority of Radio and Television announced the death of host Safaa Ahmed as a martyr following Israel's dangerous aggression in the capital, Damascus," the report said.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense said the Israeli military targeted Damascus with drones and aircraft at around 02.00 local time from the direction of the occupied Golan Heights.
Our air defense system faced missiles and drones of aggression and shot down most of them, the ministry said, citing three civilians and nine others injured in the attack.
Video posted on social media and geolocation by CNN, suggesting an explosion occurred next to the Syrian Telecom building, west of the city's military airport.

Additional videos found geolocated by CNN showed the car caught fire after the explosion.
It is unclear whether this is the location of Ahmed's murder or something else, and the location of their death was not reported by SANA.
When asked about the report, the Israeli military said, "we did not comment on reports in foreign media."
Israel has launched airstrikes in Syria since the Hamas attack on October 7 last year, but usually does not confirm when Israel launched the attack there.
