ICW Considers The KPK To Choose To Give To Kaesang Pangarep About Private Jets

JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) considers the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to be favoritism to the son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who is the General Chair of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Kaesang Pangarep regarding the investigation of the private jet facility he uses.

This was conveyed by the Staff of the Indonesian Political Corruption Watch (ICW) Division, Seira Tamara Herlambang when asked about Kaesang's report which she considered slow to follow up and the announcement seemed to have been thrown by KPK officials. The attitude of the anti-corruption commission was accused of being different when facing other officials whose family members were caught showing off their wealth or flexing.

"The slowdown and reluctance of the KPK in handling gratification cases that befell Kaesang must also be seen as a form of favoritism," Seira told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, September 30.

The KPK called Seira more fiercely with other officials but not with President Jokowi's family. "Efforts to trace it are very fast done but it didn't happen to Kaesang," he said.

"So we can see this reluctance as a form of wanting to protect against examining Kaesang, so we urge the KPK to immediately investigate and deepen the gratuities allegedly carried out by Kaesang," said Seira.

The anti-corruption commission has yet to explain the results of the analysis of reports on the use of private jets submitted by Kaesang. Meanwhile, the KPK chairman Nawawi Pomolango said his subordinates, Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring of the KPK Pahala Nainggolan, would convey the results.

Nawawi even said that the leadership was not very important to convey the results of the analysis. Meanwhile, Pahala from the start said that the leadership would submit the results of Kaesang's report.

He has even submitted the work of the Directorate of Gratification of the KPK under his deputy to the leadership table. I have sent an official memorandum regarding the results of the analysis and proposal of the decision to the leadership," he told VOI via text message, Monday, September 23.

"Furthermore, the leadership will decide and announce it," concluded Pahala.
