End Of Duties In Parliament, MPR NasDem Faction: Amendment Discussion Must Involve All Parties

JAKARTA - Chairman of the MPR NasDem Faction Taufik Basari (Tobas) spoke about the constitution at the end of his term in parliament for the 2019-2024 period.

Towards the end of his position, Tobas reviewed that his party emphasized the involvement of all parties when discussing changes to the constitution and amendments.

This was revealed by Tobas in the Performance Report of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) NasDem Faction entitled "The Future of People's Sovereignty and Legal Countries in the Indonesian Constitution".

"We in a plenary session give 5 conditions that when we want to make amendments, we must first carry out a thorough evaluation involving all parties," said Tobas at the NasDem Tower Auditorium, Central Jakarta, Monday, September 30.

When speaking of the constitution, continued Tobas, constitutional issues should not only be discussed among political elites, but must involve many parties.

"Only among the ruling elites but also must be grounded, discussed in various places discussed together, including the idea of amendments," said Tobas.

On that occasion, former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) for the 2003-2008 period Jimly Asshiddiqqie also provided various perspectives on democratic countries and legal principles. According to Jimly, quality must continue to be built from time to time.

I see that the NasDem Party has great potential, especially in a short time, it shot up. Now 69 seats, from 2019 to fifty-nine, have taken ten seats. This means that people's trust in NasDem is extraordinary," said Jimly.

One of the things that makes people believe in NasDem is for Jimly, because the ideas he builds are for the importance of restoration, the importance of change, in the meaning of improvement even though it remains in continuity.

"I think Sunnatullah, natural law, needs to improve our state system in the future, even though it is in continuity and what we discussed earlier, I believe is the same as the attitude of the General Chairperson (Surya Paloh)," concluded Jimly.
