The Moment Of The 728th Anniversary Of The City Of Surabaya, The City Government Abolishes The United Nations Fines

SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Government removed the Land and Building Tax (PBB) fine for the 728th Anniversary of the City of Surabaya (HJKS). The elimination of fines or sanctions will take effect today, April 1-June 30, 2021.

Head of the Regional Financial and Tax Management Agency (BPKPD), Rachmad Basari, said the exemption of fines during HJKS was an incentive, which the government gave to residents regularly.

However, due to the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, the city government has relaxed by extending the period of exemption from fines. Usually, the fine waiver is applied for only one month, now it is extended to three months.

"Because this is related to COVID in the end, the time or time is extended to boost the economy. So we enforce it for three months. The exemption of the arrears fine starts from 1994 to 2021", said Rachmad in Surabaya, Thursday, April 1.

Basari is optimistic that the 2021 tax target will be bigger than in 2020. This is because, according to him, the movement for economic recovery is progressing enough from 2020 when the first pandemic.

"So we are optimistic that it will be higher and better than the previous year. We will be more massive in socializing it to the citizens", he said.

Rachmad admits that he continues to aggressively socialize the policy for exemption from fines. He calculated that there are at least 15 tax cars that go around every day in the urban village office, to serve residents paying taxes.

"We have also communicated with our UPT and we ask residents to inform each other. So share information to make it even more massive", he said.

Not only that, Rachmad calculated the data on arrears and principal taxes recorded from 1994-2021 to reach IDR 1 trillion. Because of that, he is targeting the realized figure to amount to IDR 1.3 billion in 2021.

"So to this day, it has reached IDR 205 billion or 14.81 percent", he said.

Rachmad hopes that the program for the exemption or elimination of the PBB fine can be put to good use by the residents of Surabaya. This is because if the program period ends on June 30, then the fine must still be paid by the original regulation.

"Because of the exemption of fines, the rules are allowed at certain moments such as HJKS or celebrating Heroes' Day. So, Surabaya residents can make the best use of the exemption of UN fines, don't forget to inform your relatives, neighbors, and relatives", said Rachmad.
