Toyota Recalls More Than 42,000 Corolla Cross Hybrid Units Due To Brake Problems, Easy To Slip On Turn
JAKARTA - Bad news is again approaching the world automotive giant Toyota. The manufacturer from Japan announced the recall of more than 42,000 units in the United States (US).
Launching from Reuters, Monday, September 30, the affected model is the Corolla Cross Hybrid model 2023-2024.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall was caused by the loss of aid on power brake assists that helped stop vehicle speeds. The regulator mentions a software error in the electronic control unit that regulates the vehicle when slipping.
With a failure in the system, it can result in the loss of aid on braking when turning around the corner. Loss of power brake assists can extend the distance required by vehicles to stop, thereby increasing the risk of accidents.

This increases the list of Toyota vehicles that must be recalled in the US in September. Previously, the manufacturer, headed by Akio Toyoda, announced that the recall involved Sequoia Hybrid. This large SUV model was affected by a recall due to the barrier covering of the crane at the rear that could potentially be separated from the car. This automaker says the SUV has a crane barrier cover held by a clip in the back bumper, but the connection design is not strong enough. Thus, there is a possibility that this is not strong enough to hold it. If the device falls while traveling, it can increase the risk of danger on the highway to potentially an accident.
In total, this Japanese manufacturer recalled the Sequoia Hybrid as many as 43,395 units produced between August 31, 2022, and July 23, 2024. However, Toyota has not been able to provide accurate estimates of how many vehicles are experiencing defects or have barrier covers for detached cranes.
Toyota noted that it had received two field reports regarding the crash of a crane barrier on their Sequoia Hybrid. In addition, the automaker has started an investigation and discovered the imperfections of the installation in this section.
