BYD Recall Nearly 100,000 Dolphin Model Units And Atto 3 In China Due To This Problem

JAKARTA - Bad news came from a well-known car manufacturer from China, namely BYD, where nearly 100,000 electric vehicles had to be recalled in China.

Quoting from the CNevpost page, Monday, September 30, based on a statement from the State Administration for China's Market Regulation (SAMR) revealed that a total of 96,714 vehicles were affected by the Dolphin and Yuan Plus models, known as Atto 3 in Indonesia.

BYD Auto Industry Co Ltd will recall a total of 87,762 electric vehicles Dolphin and Yuan Plus produced between February 4, 2023 and December 26, 2023, due to fire risk.

"The withdrawal occurred again because the process of fabricating an Electric Power Steering (CEPS) controller, the capacitor on the controller circuit board in several vehicles included in this recall, could cause microcracks," according to the statement.

The cracks that occur can widen and trigger a short circuit, which can cause the capacitor to become too hot or even catch fire.

In response to this, BYD will assign authorized dealers to retrofit vehicles pulled with the controller's isolation gas for free to eliminate potential safety hazards.
