10 MU Players Battered At Old Trafford, Erik Ten Hag Threatened With Dismissal
JAKARTA - Manchester United lost another embarrassing 3-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League match at Old Trafford Stadium, Saturday, September 29, 2024 in the morning WIB. The battered at home puts manager Erik ten Hag in danger of being sacked.
Again, MU was embarrassed in front of supporters who looked angry and disappointed with the team's poor performance. Even they left the stadium for the umpteenth time before the game ended. It is very rare for fans who have high loyalty to MU.
But Red Devils supporters have moved out of the seat when Tottenham player Dominic Solanke scored the third goal which changed the score to 3-0. This is the second time they have done the same. Previously, supporters had left when United were humiliated by LIverpool with the same score, 3-0.
Fan attitude is MU's strong signal to make decisions regarding Ten Hag's fate. The disappointing result did not rule out the possibility that Ten Hag would no longer have the support of the club.
Moreover, Sir Jim Radcliffe, owner of the club's minority, is already looking to sack Ten Hag once last season's competition is over. Only Ten Hag was finally saved after Manchester United won the FA Cup. They not only beat city rivals, Manchester City, 2-1, but also showed impressive performances.
After canceling the fire, Ten Hag was also allowed to buy players to increase team strength. Only, he was given the requirement to buy players under the age of 25. This requirement was indeed fulfilled when Ten Hag brought in Joshua Zirkzee Leny Yoro to defender Matthijs de Ligt.
However, MU was devastated when they started the competition. They have lost three times, including being beaten by Tottenham 3-0. The defeat put Ten Hag at the brink.
Even The Sun said that now Ten Hag is the manager with the most potential to be dismissed than others in the Premier League. Not only that, the number of candidates to replace Ten Hag has also been revealed.
From among a number of names, a new figure emerged, namely assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy who joined the ranks of the pelaklih at the beginning of the season. The presence of this former MU striker is said to have brought changes to the squad. No less club legend Cristiano Ronaldo called Van Nistelrooy an important role in building the team.
Apart from Van Nistelrooy, there is former England manager Gareth Southgate who is still unemployed after resigning after Euro 2024. A number of subsequent candidates are still the same and have been mentioned as Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Kieran McKenna and Roberto De Zerbi.
Despite the rumors of his dismissal, Ten Hag still believes he will not be dismissed. The former Ajax Amsterdam coach confidently dismissed the speculation.
"I don't think about dismissal. We have decided to stay together. The owner [club], staff, players and myself. We have decided and acted like what we have to do. We all know this takes time. What is clear is that we are still on the same page of the book," said Ten Hag.
Ten Hag ensured that he had to conduct a thorough evaluation of his team. He highlighted Andre Onana's goal which had conceded when the game had only been running for three minutes. It is really unnatural for a club as big as MU to concede a quick goal.
"Conceding in the second or third minutes clearly affects the confidence of the players. Moreover, it was a goal that shouldn't have happened. We weren't good enough and we had to accept that fact. So, we have to be better in the next match. We have to focus and do better," said Ten Hag again.
Meanwhile, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou said he was satisfied with the team's performance. According to him, the team has become more consistent, especially after the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in The North London Derby in the Premier League.
"I think we showed an impressive performance. We started the game very well and scored a good goal. In fact, we should have been able to add two or three more goals," said Postechoglue.
"The opposing team did then get pressure, especially after a player got a red card. After the incident, we completely controlled the game. The children's performance was extraordinary," he said.
In that match, MU unexpectedly conceded in the third minute. Starting from the action of defender defender Micky van de Ven who brought the ball from the center field. He then entered the MU defense area and released a cross which was greeted byUS Johnson. Without any trouble he broke into Onana's goal.
Winning 1-0 made Tottenham even more excited to press the hosts who played very badly. In a position behind, United even lost captain Bruno Fernandes. In the 42nd minute, Fernandes committed a serious foul on James Maddison so the referee immediately issued a red card.
Losing the captain made MU's game even more chaotic. Tottenham took advantage of the situation well. Although they could not add to the goal when the first half was over, they were able to control the game in the next round.
Midfielder Dejan Kulusevski managed to increase Tottenham's lead when the second half had only been running for two minutes. This is the second time that Manchester United's goal conceded in the early minutes of the match. Kulusevski himself finished Johnson's own assist which changed the score to 2-0.
Then Solanke solidified the advantage of The Lilywhites in the 77th minute. A goal was created when there was chaos in front of the goal. Starting from a corner which was greeted by Pepe Sarr with a header. The ball then fell and headed towards Solanke who immediately fired hard at the MU goal.
The score changed 3-0 for Tottenham and lasted until the game was over. The victory brought Tottenham up to eighth with 10 points. Meanwhile, MU, who has seven points, is getting worse at the bottom. They are ranked 12th and only four points ahead with a team in the relegation zone.
