500 Merchants Hangus During The Sorong Remu Market Fire, Police Intervene
Sorong City Police, Southwest Papua, is conducting an in-depth investigation into the cause of the Sorong Remu Market fire, Saturday at 17.30 WIT yesterday.
Sorong City Police Chief Kombes Happy Perdana Yudianto explained that his party was making an effort to deepen the fire accident that hit the Remu Market in Sorong City.
"Our team is currently investigating. Currently, the location of the incident has already been installed with a police line," he said in Sorong, Antara, Sunday, September 29.
Investigating to find out exactly the shape of the cause, then material losses from traders. An estimated 500 stalls were burned to the ground at Remu Market.
"When the fire broke out, we immediately carried out security at the location to prevent looting. At that time, we sent a platoon of Dalmas Polresta," he said.
Previously, the Sorong City Remu Central Market caught fire on Saturday (28/9) at around 17.30 WIT.
The very dense market conditions made it difficult for officers to extinguish the fire so that the position of the central part of the market was sold out to the ground level. The fire was finally extinguished on Sunday at around 02.00 WIT.
