Andrea Arnold's Bird Film Becomes The Closing Of The Jakarta World Cinema 2024

JAKARTA - The Jakarta World Cinema (JWC) film festival officially closed on Saturday, September 28 after being held for eight days. There are 120 films from 61 countries that have successfully garnered 9,000 offline and 5,000 online spectators at KlikFilm.

The Bird film by Andrea Arnold is a film that closes the film festival. Bird film stars Barry Keoghan, Franz Rogowski, Nykiya Adams, and others.

This year's festival features a variety of famous titles, including the work of Jacques Audiard's Emilia Perez, Caught by the Tides by Jia Zhang-ke, All We Imagine As Light by Payal Kapadia, The Seed of the Sacred Fig by Muhammad Rasoulof, A Travelers' Needs by Hong Sang-soo, and the Grand Tour by Miguel Gomes, all of whom received a warm welcome from the audience.

The Audience Award for JWC 2024 was given to The Substance, a film with extraordinary strong messages, and managed to amaze festival audiences.

First Feature Competition won by Brief History of a Family which became the director Jianjie Lin's director's directorial debut. Meanwhile, the First Feature Competition award for Best Film category fell to the brave and provocative film Girls Will Be Girls.

"This film has succeeded in concocting a very familiar genre approach and bringing it to a level that is so fresh and does not lose simplicity," said Lola Amaria as one of the judges of JWC 2024.
