National Police Headquarters Attacked, PPP: Any Religion Does Not Justify Terror!

JAKARTA - Member of Commission I DPR RI from the PPP faction, Muhammad Iqbal, condemned the attack that took place at the Police Headquarters, Wednesday, March 31. According to him, acts of terror are not justified by adherents of any religion.

So, he said, acts of terror should not be linked to religion even though the perpetrators at the National Police Headquarters wore specific religious clothes.

"Any religion does not justify acts of terror. Even though their attire is typical of a certain religion, it does not mean that the attacker fully reflects that religion," Iqbal said, Thursday, April 1.

In addition, Iqbal considered that the act of terror at the National Police Headquarters was a form of terror against national security. The National Police must trace thoroughly the motives and intellectual actors involved behind it.

"The National Police Headquarters is a symbol of national security," he said.

He said, Law Number 5 of 2018 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Terrorism has given authorities the authority to carry out efforts to counter terrorism in the country.

"All terrorism cells that are still in Indonesia must also be traced to prevent them from committing terror," he said.

The Secretary of the PPP MPR faction also asked the Government to be more aggressive in enhancing the terrorism prevention program through a persuasive approach. Namely by working with educational institutions to provide an understanding of mutual respect, respect and love for fellow human beings.

"So that in the future these acts of terror will not be repeated," said Iqbal.
