There Was A Riot Of Supporters After The Match, PT LIB Affirms The Persib Vs Persija Clean Match

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB), Ferry Paulus, confirmed that the Persib Bandung vs Persija Jakarta match was running clean without a violation.

This was revealed following a riot that occurred after the sixth week of the 2024/2025 Liga 1 match.

"From the course of the match, from kick-off to final whistle, it went smoothly, clean, there were no obstacles," said Ferry Paulus at a PT LIB press conference in Jakarta, September 27, 2024.

Previously, it was known that the riots occurred after the final whistle sounded at the Persib Bandung vs Persija Jakarta match at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency, September 23, 2024.

In that match, Persib Bandung actually won 2-0 over his rivals. However, in fact, chaos broke out 10 minutes after the match, in which hundreds of supporters attacked the field and chased and carried out violence against the stewards.

Ferry Paulus also ensured that the chaos was not the result of the high tension of the match labeled by El Clasico Indonesia.

He said this incident was an accumulation of disappointment from Persib supporters regarding the previous match against Port FC in the 2024/2025 Asian Champions League.

"Indeed, there was tension against Port FC because (Persib Bandung) lost. They (supporters) were disappointed. So, there was an incident going into the field that should have been sterile."

"From the incident on 19 (September 2024) it was the first (triggering the fans' frustration). Then, the match on September 23, 2024 (against Persija) was the peak of accumulation," said Ferry Paulus.

Despite realizing the chaos that occurred, PT LIB could not take firm steps. If examined, the trigger occurred in the match against Port FC which is the domain of the AFC.

Regarding the peak of the commotion that broke out in the match against Persija, PT LIB has communicated with Persib Bandung management. As a result, it was declared clean.

Meanwhile, PT LIB said the chaos that occurred after the match could be dealt with based on the PSSI Disciplinary Committee's decision. PT LIB can only provide recommendations, not carry out investigations.

"Our domain is to straighten it out because it didn't suddenly make a fuss. There must be a reason, that's what we clarified."

"We have closed communication with Persib Bandung and his supporters. Then we will provide input for this clarification to the PSSI Komdis to be decided," said Ferry Paulus.
