Polda Metro Tighten Church Security Ahead Of Good Friday-Easter, There Are 4 Priorities

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya deployed 5,590 personnel to secure the church that will carry out the Good Friday service until Easter Sunday. There are 833 churches that will be secured.

"So there are 833 churches that we are ready to secure into the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya. 5,590 personnel that we deploy together with the TNI are securing them. There are also local government and church internal security," Yusri told reporters, Thursday, April 1.

According to Yusri, of the hundreds of churches in the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya, four of them will prioritize their security. Extra security at these churches was carried out after the suicide bombing at the Makassar Cathedral church.

"There are 4 priority scales, namely the Cathedral Church, the Immanuel Church, the HKBP Church in Grogol, and the Kristoforus Catholic Church in Petamburan," he said.

In the security scheme, later Brimob members will sterilize the church. Then check the CCTV installed.

"In cooperation with local security to carry out monitoring and there are routine patrols around the church. On the one hand, we hope that the congregation, through the committee, does not need to carry a bag because later when we enter we will check it," he explained.

"This is a preventive step. In order not to be obstructed by other congregations from worshiping, so you don't have to carry a bag, just come and sit down," he continued.

After the incident of the attack at the Police Headquarters, the security of the Polda Metro Jaya will also be increased. One example is by closing several entrances.

"The National Police Chief has also emphasized the increased security at the police command headquarters at Polda Metro Jaya, Polres, Polsek, all of them," continued Yusri.

"We have a tightening layer. For example at Polda Metro Jaya there are 3 doors, one door is closed, namely door D which is behind. Then we open the Gatot Subroto door tightly, and the main door is specifically for members of the Police," he said.

To increase the security system, the deadline for its implementation has not yet been confirmed. Later there will be periodic evaluations. in order for the maximum security system.
