French Woman Dies In Explosion When Israel Attacks Lebanon

JAKARTA - An 87-year-old French woman died after an explosion in southern Lebanon. This incident occurred when Israel hit Hezbollah's target in Lebanon.

"The building of our country's women's residence collapsed after a strong explosion that occurred nearby," the French Foreign Ministry said on Thursday, September 26, reported by Reuters. The French Foreign Ministry does not yet know whether other French nationals have been victims of the conflict.

Israeli warplanes bombarded Lebanon, with attacks that killed hundreds of people.

Israel has rejected proposals by the United States, France, and other allies calling for a halt to fighting amid fears the clash could lead to a wider regional war.

Around 20,000 French nationals are registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and live in Lebanon, a country that has been colonized by France and has strong ties to Paris.

Meanwhile, CNN reported two people were killed and 15 others injured when Israeli warplanes attacked buildings on the southern outskirts of Beirut, known as Dahiyeh, on Thursday afternoon.

One of the injured victims was a woman who was in critical condition.

CNN has geolocated the location of the attack in Haret Hreik in Dahiyeh, a densely populated area with the presence of a strong Hezbollah.
