The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Issues IPB Via OSS-Based Online Licensing

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has officially issued a Geothermal Mining Business License (IPB) to PT Cahaya Anagata Energy (CAE) to manage the Way Ratai Geothermal Working Area (WKP) in Lampung Province.

Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), Eniya Listiani Dewi, said that the issuance of this IPB marks a new milestone in geothermal licensing in Indonesia, because for the first time the licensing process is carried out online through the risk-based Online Single Submission (OSS) system.

"This IPB is a Risk-Based Business Licensing which is processed through OSS-based online licensing for the first time, and is the result of synergy between related ministries," said Eniya, quoted on Thursday, September 26.

Eniya explained that the energy of the risk-based OSS system in the IPB licensing process is a form of bureaucratic reform that aims to simplify and accelerate the business licensing process.

With this system, he said, business actors can do licensing online and obtain permits in a shorter time.

Furthermore, Eniya explained that the government offers a Hot Earth Working Area through auctions.

"This allows the government to grant a Geothermal Permit for Exploration, Exploitation, and Indirect Utilization," continued Eniya.

For information, PT Cahaya Anagata Energy was specially formed to manage WKP Way Ratai, which is the result of an auction conducted by the Directorate General of EBTKE.

The auction will be held in 2023 and won by the consortium PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy and PT Jasa Daya Chevron, with an exploration commitment of 28.85 million US dollars.

Meanwhile, the development of geothermal at WKP Way Ratai has an investment plan of US$212.46 million and has the capacity to include 175 permanent workers.

This plan will meet the electricity needs for the South Sumatra electricity system of 55 MW.

In addition, this project will provide benefits to the state in the form of taxes and PNBP, as well as regions in the form of production bonuses to producing regions and empowering local communities programs.
