Hendra Setiawan Has No Title Target In This Year's Remaining Tournament

JAKARTA The men's doubles specialist, Hendra Setiawan, has no title targets at all in this year's BWF Tour calendar.

The 40-year-old Veteran has plans to play in three or four tournaments by November 2024.

Three of them he can confirm are the Arctic Open (Super 500), China Masters (Super 750), and the Denmark Open (Super 500).

Hendra said that he was very realistic with his current age so that he could reach the semifinals of one of these events was already the best.

"If possible in Denmark or China Masters (achieved the semifinals)," said Hendra at the PBSI Cipayung training camp (Pelatnas), East Jakarta, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

Hendra is currently planning to hang up his racket. He plans to make a decision to retire by the end of this year.

The couple from Mohammad Ahsan admitted that recently he began to have difficulty competing and could not undergo maximum training anymore because he was eroded by age.

"It's hard, especially for recovery. So, in the past, they used to practice in the morning tired, in the afternoon they were ready again," said the 2008 Beijing Olympics men's doubles gold medalist.

Hendra/Ahsan have recently been in a trend of less than optimal appearances. In the three latest tournaments, they immediately stopped in the first round.

The three tournaments are the Japan Open, Hong Kong Open, and China Open 2024, a Super 1000 BWF level tournament that just ended last weekend.
