Agent Payments For Premier League Players Rise During The Pandemic, Chelsea Is The Highest With Rp. 706 Billion

JAKARTA - According to data released by the English Football Association (FA) as reported by Reuters, Premier League clubs paid a total fee of 272.2 million pounds (Rp.5.46 trillion) to player agents for the year ending February 2021 with the largest allocated by Chelsea.

Despite suffering heavy losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Premier League clubs are spending £ 9 million more on agency fees than a year earlier.

Chelsea, who spent the most at the close of last season by bringing in Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Edouard Mendy, have spent 35.2 million pounds (Rp706 billion) in agent fees.

Leaders Manchester City are second on the list of top spenders, spending £ 30.1 million (Rp. 604.5 billion) in agent fees after manager Pep Guardiola recruited Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres. Manchester United ranks third with 29.8 million pounds (Rp598 billion) in agent fees.

West Bromwich Albion have spent the least amount of money on agents by spending only 4.2 million pounds (Rp84 billion).

Championship second division clubs spent a total of £ 40.7 million (Rp.817 billion) in agent fees with Norwich City being the club spending the most £ 6.8 million (Rp136 billion).
